Microdermabrasion
What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion, also known as particle skin resurfacing, is a non-surgical procedure that uses a highly controlled spray of fine aluminium oxide crystals to remove the outer layer of skin and reveal a healthy, tighter, and more radiant skin underneath.
How does microdermabrasion work?
The microdermabrasion technique abrades the skin using a high-pressure flow of crystals. This is an effective treatment for fine wrinkles, enlarged pores, aging changes, and superficial scars with minimal risk and rapid recovery.
What are the benefits of microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion can make your skin appear thicker and healthier. Multiple treatments are beneficial as they encourage the production of higher levels of collagen and elastin, which are essential for health and glowing skin. It further improves your complexion and the overall appearance of your skin.
How many treatments are necessary?
A series of 5-12 treatments is required to achieve good results. The treatment can be significantly longer in cases of acne scars. Initial treatments are scheduled weekly or biweekly, followed by monthly or biannual maintenance therapy.
This technique should not be considered during concomitant use of Accutane (isotretinoin), active herpes infection, malignant skin tumours, and certain keratoses.
Are there any risks associated with this procedure?
A cosmetic procedure is a formal, potentially risky medical treatment.
It is not a “simple beauty treatment”
